TESTIMONIALS (continued)

"When David was eight I discovered he had a vision processing problem that resulted in difficulty in reading. On the fifth week after starting your program, I realized David’s reading had suddenly improved. He is not pausing at the small words so his reading is now almost at my speed. Several of the other reading related problems have disappeared for the first time. In addition, his eyes don’t tire and he doesn’t complain about reading like he did in the past. There is no question your program has made the difference. As a parent who has researched the field and felt the frustration of not being able to help my son, I can only thank you for your work and urge you to share this program with all needy children."

"One of things we have consistently observed with students who are doing PATH is an increased desire to read. They go from avoiding reading to really wanting to read. We also notice that students are better able to keep their eyes fixed on one spot-they have more eye control. This makes reading more comfortable and supports all other work with reading.

We have started using PATH with a few autistic kids to see what kind of results we will get. So far, we are seeing an increase in attention and "presence," and more sociable, less in-your-face behavior. This has been in conjunction with other therapies, but we think that PATH has contributed to these outcomes."

"I have been intrigued by the remarkable results you have found with a minimum of intervention, ever since you helped my son overcome his reading difficulties. Having founded LA Therapy for Children, I had access to every type of reading therapy available, and none of them would help my son read well enough to meet grade expectations, and to experience success in the school environment. After bringing him every week for 20 minutes for one year, he could read fluently, above two grade levels by the end of third grade, and his major reading issues were abated. Now he attends a school with a curriculum that is based on reading, there are no lectures, only reading-based research with teacher supervision. He is completely successful, with high self esteem as a result of your wonderful intervention. Having worked with a wide range of children with learning disabilities, I found that unless perceptual processing timing issues are resolved with a program like the PATH therapy, reading issues will always be prevalent. I find that the PATH therapy is the most effective therapy for remediating reading disabilities. Not only has it been proven in clincial validation studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, the PATH therapy is the only software available in the market which can improve reading ability (fluency, comprehension, spelling, pronunciation) with the smallest amount of intervention (20 minutes per week) while all other alternatives require an intensive amount of hours to produce improvements in reading."

"Sydney [9 years old] was having a terrible time reading and frankly, did NOT enjoy it at all. Because of her difficulty, she felt stupid, which lowered her self image and self esteem. From the first day after seeing you, her attitude changed dramatically! You not only made her feel comfortable, but you gave her hope. Now, after only a couple of months, she absolutely loves to read. She has gone from reading 80 words per struggling minute, to over 200 words per minute of eager anticipation. You have unveiled a most precious, inquisitive mind in my daughter and I thank you."
James Chappell, Ojai, CA

"I am writing to thank you for helping my daughter Jennifer Hurt. Her teacher and I have seen a very big change in her reading and she couldn't have done it without you. We thought we did everything (Hooked on Phonics, hiring a tutor, etc.), but nothing worked. With only two sessions she has improved remarkably."
Val Hurt, Ventura, CA

"When Nicholas started your reading program, he found reading to be very difficult and hated to read. He was reversing letters and numbers which PATH therapy caused to go away. Moreover, he had great difficulty spelling and pronouncing words, and his reading speed was unusually slow. Not only did his reading speed improve four fold, his spelling, pronunciation, and desire to read improved remarkably. I have tried many different types of reading therapy, and none of them were successful in improving Nicholas' reading fluency."

"Two years in a row, Robert, my eight year old son, was getting low scores in reading comprehension and spelling. These two areas were pulling down his self-esteem. By the end of second grade most of the kids were reading better than Robert and he felt a sense of not being good enough! Not being smart! After the first month of the PATH therapy twice a week, we both saw improvement, and by the end of the second month it all started coming together. He is finally making sense of his reading, improving in reading comprehension, and even spelling. He is even picking up books and magazines on his own, something he never did before he started the [PATH therapy] with Dr. Lawton. I was skeptical at first, but now I am only impressed with the results of Dr. Lawton's work. My youngest son Ben is also receiving the PATH therapy, and has also noticed large improvements in his ability to see the letters in a word, understands what he is reading, spelling, and has also noticed it has helped him play hockey, in enabling him to see the hockey puck more easily and to skate faster. I believe this visual exercise is of benefit to Ben, even though he wasn't necessarily showing signs that he needed this therapy. We are most grateful for Dr. Teri Lawton's work and hope more children will have the opportunity and experience that we've had."

"When you first started working with Ashley, who is autistic, she could not read and was hesitant to try. After only a short amount of time (two months for 30 minutes twice a week), we have noticed remarkable improvements in Ashley's reading ability. Not only has she started sounding out words, she started spelling words like 'princess'. Even her speech therapist and vision therapist have noticed a remarkable improvement in Ashley's ability to sound out letters, and read new words. Her overall attention span has greatly increased, and her motor skills have improved. Since Ashley started your program, she is able to remember a list of instructions and execute them accordingly. I believe that training on PATH therapy enabled Ashley to restore the timing in her brain."

"Brandon is an 11 year old boy who has been diagnosed with Autism. Among the constellation of deficits he faces is the fact that he has been unable to learn to read. Teachers with the La Canada Unified School District have tried various therapies since he was first enrolled in kindergarten and have met with almost no success. In January 2005, we started working with Dr. Lawton who utilizes PATH therapy. Brandon in one year showed improvements in his test scores of up to 4 years on various subtests of reading. I have noticed that his ability to read has improved greatly and his desire to read has also improved. He is also more focused and relaxed when asked to read." James Ryals, La Canada, CA

CASE STUDY
Following a serious head trauma that severely compromised her reading and writing skills, 18 year-old Chelsea Ellwood permanently improved her learning abilities and reading effectiveness with Perception Attention Therapy for Harmony (PATH) therapy. With only 11 weeks of treatment Chelsea's reading and comprehension improved dramatically.

After three years of traditional rehabilitation and vision therapy, which produced marginal improvements, Chelsea Ellwood was introduced to Perception Attention Therapy for Harmony (PATH) therapy. After only 11 weeks of treatment PATH therapy permanently improved Chelsea's ability to read, concentrate, pay attention in class and follow instructions. Her reading speed improved from 434 words per minute (wpm) to 1542 wpm and she no longer suffered from headaches.

"PATH therapy seemed to help heal my brain quickly," she recalls. "I feel I can read much better now than before the accident. I can read much faster and understand what I'm reading much more easily." Not only has Chelsea successfully graduated from Mira Mesa High School but she will be attending Springfield College, Massachusetts in the fall.

After witnessing her daughters remarkable recovery, Chelsea's mother, a 7th grade mathematics teacher, now recommends PATH therapy for students who have difficulties reading and retaining information. "Both elementary and high school children can permanently improve their skills with Perception Attention Therapy for Harmony therapy. I recommend PATH therapy for many of my students. I believe that low achieving students would greatly benefit. My daughter used PATH therapy and it made a huge difference in her life. This is a wonderful treatment."
