PATH
therapy has been designed as a computer-based CD-ROM game that
improves learning ability and attention span in school, enhances
the desire to read, raises self-esteem and significantly improves
general behavior.
Controlled clinical studies with over 900 students in public elementary
schools, funded by the National Institutes of Health and Perception Dynamics
Institute (Lawton, 2004, 2007a, 2007b), found that PATH training twice
a week for fifteen weeks
increased reading speed two to four fold, and improved comprehension,
word identification, and spelling by
1 to 3 grade levels.
HOW CAN I TAKE MY CHILD DOWN THE PATH TO READING?
PATH
to Reading therapy is available in different ways
(see ABOUT US to learn more):
- At
home vision therapy sessions administered by us
in the San Diego and Los Angeles area.
(2 half hours per week for 12 weeks)
- Scheduled
training sessions for administering the
PATH therapy in your own home.
(Half hour sessions 2 times a week for 12 weeks).
- Scheduled
training sessions at certified locations such as local optometry
vision therapy and learning/reading centers.
(Half hour sessions 2 times a week for 12 weeks).
PATH
To Reading was developed by Dr. Teri Lawton,
a neurobiologist who has studied visual perception for over
30 years. Her research shows that the core deficiency of
many poor readers is an impaired visual ability to discriminate
the direction of motion, which results in spatial and temporal
sequencing problems caused by neural timing deficits.
